The determinants of the performance in the entrance exam of the Federal University of Minas Gerais

In order to decrease inequalities in tertiary education attendance, many Brazilian public institutions implemented affirmative action policies the last decades. particular, a bonus policy was at UFMG 2009, which substituted by quota 2012. Besides, other also this and universities Brazil may have had an indirect effect of promoting increase minorities’ such as Restructuring Expansion Federal Universities (Reuni) use National Exam Secondary Level (ENEM) tool for student’s selection. This paper analyzes determinants performance entrance exam University Minas Gerais (UFMG), between years 2009 2013, with focus on these changes. Affirmative Reuni did not affect remarkably minorities UFMG´s selection process. However, ENEM first stage process relatively decreased minorities. Moreover, differences skin color were dwarfed inequalities, household income, parent’s educational level or type secondary school attended student.
